The Baix Empordà Integrated Health Services (SSIBE) have launched the flu and COVID-19 vaccination campaign. The primary objective is to shield the population from the consequences of influenza, especially the most vulnerable individuals, and to decrease infections. Vaccination is a crucial tool for reducing medical consultations, hospitalizations, and complications associated with the flu.
The campaign will be rolled out in stages. Starting Monday, October 5th, vaccination will be available to residents of nursing homes, individuals over 80 years old, pregnant women, healthcare personnel, and children aged 6 to 59 months. Priority will also be given to home care recipients and children aged 5 to 14 with risk factors.
From October 26th, other eligible groups can get vaccinated, including people aged 60 to 79, individuals aged 15 to 59 with risk factors, and essential workers. On November 16th, walk-in vaccinations will begin at primary care teams for those who have difficulty scheduling appointments.
As in previous years, vaccination can be obtained without an appointment at health centers. Additionally, between October 26th and November 13th, walk-in vaccinations will be offered at Palamós Hospital, in consultation room 1 of outpatient services, from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
To bring vaccination closer to the community, special vaccination sessions will be held outside the primary care centers. The CAPs of Palafrugell and Palamós will vaccinate at social centers, senior centers, and pharmacies. In Palafrugell, vaccinations will take place at Plaça Nova and on a Saturday morning at the CAP. Palamós will have specific hours for pediatric vaccinations.
The ABS of Torroella de Montgrí has set schedules and dates for its clinics in Jafre, La Tallada d'Empordà, Gualta, Serra de Daró, l'Estartit, and Verges. The ABS of La Bisbal d'Empordà will also prioritize spontaneous and opportunistic vaccinations.
For those who prefer to book an appointment, it can be done through La Meva Salut, citasalut.gencat.cat; by calling 972 60 92 22 (Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM), or in person at the reference CAP.
In 2025, 14,470 people were vaccinated in Baix Empordà, with vaccination rates above the Girona average. The vaccination coverage for risk groups reached 50% for children under 5 and nearly 48% for those over 60, figures that encourage continued promotion of immunization.
