Spanning 4,544 square meters, the new health center, built on land ceded by the Gavà City Council, will integrate existing and new healthcare resources to provide more coordinated care. In addition to a new primary care team managed by the Institut Català de la Salut (ICS), it will house pediatric professionals from across the city, the Sexual and Reproductive Health Service (ASSIR), and the Adult Mental Health Center (CSMA), managed by the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu. Notably, Gavà will also gain outpatient rehabilitation and radiology services.
The CAP Can Ribes - Ernest Lluch will operate Monday to Friday from 8 am to 8 pm, offering standard primary care services, including family and community medicine, nursing, health social work, citizen services, dentistry, community emotional well-being, community physiotherapy, dietetics and nutrition, and dental hygiene. The centralization of pediatric services aims to foster a larger and more specialized territorial team.
The launch of the new CAP involves a territorial reorganization of primary care in the municipality. Affected individuals will receive personalized communication, and continuity of care will be ensured throughout the transition, with enhanced citizen support in the weeks leading up to and following the opening.
The construction of the CAP Can Ribes - Ernest Lluch involved an investment of 15,122,000 euros. The building, designed by Jordi Sutrias Figueras and Héctor Jala Irigoyen, incorporates energy-saving measures and maximizes natural light. The architectural work was carried out by COPISA Constructora Pirenaica S.A.U., and the installations by the UTE ACISA-VOLTES, with execution management by Construcción y Control Facultatius Associats S.L.P.
