The Generalitat Fire Department has managed to bring under control this Sunday a fire at a waste management facility located in the El Fonollar industrial estate in Sant Boi de Llobregat.

The fire, reported around 9:30 a.m., caused the building's roof to collapse. Due to the scale of the flames and the smoke plume, visible from various parts of the Barcelona metropolitan area, a preventive lockdown was ordered for residents of the Casablanca neighborhood.
Currently, twelve fire crews continue to work on extinguishing the blaze from outside the facility. Access to the interior has been restricted due to the risk of structural wall collapse.
The affected company, located on Extremadura street, has a second adjacent warehouse. Emergency teams are now focusing on preventing the fire from spreading to this second structure.
