Freight Train Derailment Disrupts R8 Line Between Cerdanyola UAB and Martorell

A freight train derailed today on the R8 line of Rodalies, causing the interruption of service between Cerdanyola Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and Martorell, with no injuries reported.

The incident, which occurred today, affected the locomotive and the first wagon of the convoy, which left the tracks, as confirmed by ADIF. Fortunately, Protecció Civil has reported that no one was injured as a result of the event.
This incident has led RENFE to extend the alternative road service that was already in operation, in order to cover the affected section. Currently, R8 line trains start and end their journey at Cerdanyola UAB station, while the railway service interruption to Martorell remains in effect.
