The municipality of Sant Esteve Sesrovires is engaged in developing its new Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (PAESC). This strategic document will define local policies for the coming years regarding energy transition and climate change adaptation.
With the aim of incorporating citizen contributions, a participatory session has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 20th, at 6:30 PM, at the Celler de l'Ajuntament. The meeting is particularly aimed at individuals interested in topics such as climate change, energy, self-consumption, and energy communities.
The PAESC will establish the municipality's roadmap for advancing in climate change mitigation and adaptation, as well as in energy efficiency and sustainability. Its implementation will have a transversal scope, impacting areas such as urban planning, mobility, municipal facilities, waste management, urban green spaces, and care for vulnerable groups.
Currently, the local administration is in the final stages of diagnosing the municipal situation. Following internal working sessions with technical staff, this new phase of citizen collaboration now opens to identify challenges, gather proposals, and jointly define the new plan's actions, also aiming to create a core group of citizens committed to local energy transition.
The new plan will also set municipal actions to achieve European emission reduction targets for 2030, with the intention of exceeding the 55% CO₂ reduction. Since 2005, Sant Esteve Sesrovires has already managed to reduce its per capita emissions by 46.1%, surpassing the average of similarly sized towns.
