Mayor Jordi Bartolomé has conveyed to the territorial delegate of the Government in Barcelona, Pilar Díaz Romero, the concern over the consequences of the rain episodes and has requested a joint on-site visit. The objective is to assess the damage and define the necessary actions with the participation of the Catalan Water Agency and relevant technical services.
The floods have registered precipitation levels exceeding 110 l/m² in an initial episode and approximately 170 l/m² over the weekend of October 3rd and 4th, with nearly 130 l/m² concentrated in the most intense period. The saturated ground has exacerbated the consequences.
One of the main concerns focuses on the area around the Font del Murri and the Comte Ramon Berenguer avenue, a key access to the Cesalpina urbanization, home to over 1,000 residents and served by the metropolitan line L76. A slope landslide has forced traffic restrictions and affected public transport services.
The City Council also deems it essential to review the capacity of the area's hydraulic infrastructure, as concentrated water flows cause repeated flooding, slope erosion, and damage to nearby homes.
The situation around the Institut Montpedrós also causes concern, with water accumulation affecting the educational facility's grounds and lower-lying private homes, highlighting the need to improve the drainage of the existing hydraulic infrastructure.
Furthermore, several agricultural holdings in the Parc Agrari del Baix Llobregat have been submerged, with significant crop damage and potential production losses. The City Council considers it a priority to act on the riera de Ca n’Isbert and review the state of the riverbeds, as well as to study aid mechanisms for affected farms.
Given the extent of the damage, a joint visit has been requested with representatives from the Delegació del Govern, the Catalan Water Agency, and technical services to determine causes and define urgent actions for hydraulic infrastructure, road network, and watercourses.
