The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a second individual, aged 26, in Barcelona, linked to a wave of vehicle thefts that occurred in various areas of El Vendrell in April and May.

The arrest is part of the investigation into a series of thefts that took place on the nights of April 25th and 26th, as well as May 8th, 9th, 24th, and 25th, affecting areas such as Sant Salvador, Coma-ruga, Nirvana, Torreblanca, and Sant Vicenç. This new detainee, who has eight prior police records for similar offenses, joins the previous arrest of a 22-year-old youth on May 19th, who was attributed 24 thefts.
Initially, it was believed that a single person was responsible for the incidents, but the investigation has determined that the two brothers acted together. Their modus operandi involved breaking vehicle windows and forcing doors, windows, or trunks at night to steal valuables. They would then hide the stolen items in water pipes to retrieve them during the day.
Among the stolen items are two bicycles valued at 7,000 euros, a watch worth 300 euros, an electric scooter valued at 200 euros, sports equipment, shoes, glasses, a laptop, toolboxes, credit cards, personal documents, and 1,000 euros in cash. The detainee will be brought before the judicial authorities in Barcelona.
