The Committee for Competition and Sports Discipline has ruled in favor of Calafell, sanctioning Reus Deportiu with a 10-0 loss in the first match of the OK Liga title playoffs.

The match for the first game of the OK Liga title playoffs between Calafell and Reus Deportiu, played last Saturday at the home ground of the Baix Penedès team, has concluded with a decision favoring the local club. The Spanish Skating Federation's Committee for Competition and Sports Discipline has sanctioned Reus Deportiu with a 10-0 loss for the game they had initially won on the rink by a decisive 1-8 score.
The dispute was announced by Calafell after the match, based on an alleged irregularity in the registration of Reus player Carles Casas. The green club argued that the player, aged 20 and registered with the reserve team, did not meet the requirement of having played for Reus Deportiu for two consecutive seasons. Casas, despite having gone through the red-and-black club's youth categories, played the 2023-24 season with Barça's reserve team before returning to Reus.
Interestingly, Quim Gabarró also played for that same Barça reserve team, and with a junior registration, he also participated with Calafell in the first playoff match against Reus Deportiu.
From the Reus club, they maintain that Calafell's complaint was filed after the match ended, which, they assert, violates Article 34 of the Roller Hockey Technical Regulations, stating that administrative protests must be notified to the referees before the start of the game. According to Reus Deportiu, the claim would have a procedural defect that the Disciplinary Committee should not have considered.
The Reus club now has ten business days to appeal to the National Appeals Committee. In the meantime, however, the series has taken an unexpected turn, with Calafell now leading 1-0. This forces Jordi Garcia's team to win the next match to stay alive in the title race.
