H&T Presspart, a company specializing in drug delivery systems and components, including Ventolin inhalers, has allocated approximately 50 million euros in the last three years to new industrial projects at its production center in the Parc Empresarial del Foix, in L’Arboç (Baix Penedès).
This investment has enabled the addition of two new production buildings covering about 5,000 square meters, adding to the existing 10,000 square meters. The cleanroom area has also been expanded to approximately 6,500 square meters to serve the global pharmaceutical industry.
According to Thomas Portune, Chairman and CEO of H&T Presspart Tarragona, the new facilities will be validated and in commercial production for clients by 2027. The company exports worldwide and serves clients such as Astra Zeneca, Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK), Grifols, and Aldo Union.
In recent years, the company has created nearly 200 direct and indirect jobs, bringing the current workforce to 320 people. Last year's 2025 turnover exceeded 68 million euros, with expectations to generate "many more jobs" in the coming years.
With the new buildings operational in 2027, the current combined annual production of approximately 1.5 billion units of pharmaceutical components is expected to increase.
H&T Presspart's L'Arboç facility also serves as a global technology hub for product development (New Product Development Centre - NPDC), with a team working internationally. This center is a reference for the entire Heitkamp & Thumann group, which has manufacturing sites in Germany, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and the United States.
The company focuses on developing products that are "increasingly complex to manufacture and assemble," aiming for a "higher value-added" business and competing with international manufacturers.
Digitalization and automation are key growth drivers, utilizing data for decision-making and predictive maintenance. The company received the Award for Digitalization and Innovation at the Business Excellence Awards from the Tarragona Chamber of Commerce in 2023.
H&T Presspart Tarragona has a history spanning over seven decades in the sector, beginning in 1955 with the founding of Nemo by Jordi Marqués. The company relocated to L'Arboç in 2003 and was acquired by the German group Heitkamp & Thumann in 2008, experiencing significant growth since then.
