Detailed model of the old L'Arboç train station

An impressive model of the old L'Arboç station, built in 1941, has been created by two local railway workers and is currently on display at the municipal library.

A passion for the railway world has led two cousins, both professionally linked to the sector, to faithfully reproduce the L'Arboç station as it was between the 1940s and 1960s. The original 1941 building was a reconstruction after the previous one was destroyed by a bombing in 1938.
The model, measuring one by four meters, not only depicts the station building but also its surroundings from that era, including industrial warehouses and vineyards. For its creation, the builders relied on historical images and personal memories, capturing the essence of that period.
The L'Arboç station has a long history, with an initial construction dating back to 1865, driven by the growth of the town on the line between Barcelona and Tarragona. Important companies such as Calderería and Cristalería Española were established around this infrastructure. The first train passed through the town in 1967.

"It is above all a tribute to all railway workers."

This work, which has already been donated to the Town Hall, serves as a remembrance for many residents and highlights the municipality's railway history, especially now that the current station, built in the 1980s, has recently been renovated. One of its creators, who worked at the Tarragona station, is also preparing a book on the history of the L'Arboç station and the more than 200 people who were linked to it.
