The governing team of El Vendrell, led by Mayor Kenneth Martínez, has set the goal of approving the advancement of the new Municipal Urban Planning Plan before the end of 2026.

The governing team of the El Vendrell City Council has confirmed its intention to approve the advancement of the new Municipal Urban Planning Plan (POUM) before the end of 2026. This renewal is crucial, as the current urban planning framework for the capital of Baix Penedès dates back to the year 2000.

"The current POUM is not just old, but it is out of date. The goal is to grow inwards, filling the empty spaces we have within the urban fabric."

Kenneth Martínez · Mayor of El Vendrell
The hiring of the company responsible for carrying out the advancement was formalized last December. The main objective, according to the mayor, is to reorient the municipality's growth to make it more sustainable and efficient.
Martínez explained that the new POUM should design a municipality that is “more compact, green, and with centralities,” prioritizing internal densification over external expansion, as he noted during a meeting with the media to explain the year's investments.
