The Badalona City Council has launched a training campaign for sports club managers on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), coinciding with World Cardiopulmonary Arrest Awareness Day.

With the aim of promoting public safety, training sessions have been organized under the slogan “Badalona, cardioprotected city. Ready to save lives?”. These workshops, named “Save a Life”, aim to equip participants to act quickly in the event of cardiac emergencies, a crucial intervention for saving lives.
The workshop content includes information on sudden cardiac death, the network of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) available in the municipality, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques, and the proper use of an AED.
The sessions will take place at various sports facilities in the city: on October 16 at the La Plana Sports Center, on October 21 at the Casagemes-Albert Esteve Sports Center, and on October 29 at the Montigalà Football Stadium, all at 5:30 PM.
Badalona stands out as a pioneering city in Catalonia in implementing measures to prevent sudden cardiac death. It currently has 73 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) located in municipal facilities and strategic public spaces to ensure rapid access in emergencies.
Sudden cardiac death can occur unexpectedly in anyone, and immediate action is crucial. Alerting 112, initiating CPR promptly, and using an AED significantly increase survival chances.
Defibrillators are safe and easy-to-use devices, providing step-by-step instructions and only delivering a shock when strictly necessary. The devices installed in Badalona are equipped with geolocation and connection to emergency services to improve healthcare assistance.
Through initiatives like these, the Badalona City Council reaffirms its commitment to public training in self-protection and first aid.
