With the arrival of October, Badalona is launching a new edition of 'Camí de Salut' (Health Path), a program designed for the city's senior population. The aim is to provide practical information and tools to encourage healthy lifestyle habits, promote active aging, and improve quality of life.
This initiative, organized by the Badalona City Council, La Teranyina, Badalona Serveis Assistencials (BSA), and the Primary Care and Community Management of Barcelonès Nord and Maresme of the ICS, with the collaboration of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Association for Incontinence ASIA, and the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera, is establishing itself as a stable community proposal rooted in the neighborhoods.
This year's sessions will cover key topics such as physical activity, sexuality in advanced age, and factors contributing to maintaining good health. The program will be rolled out across five territorial cycles in different city neighborhoods, aiming to bring useful knowledge applicable to the daily lives of seniors.
As a notable new feature, a joint session on incontinence is included, titled 'Incontinence without taboos. Keys to gaining quality of life'. This meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 3rd, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, at the Espai Betúlia (carrer d’Enric Borràs, 43-47), and aims to be a space for reflection and learning to address this issue naturally.
The fourth deputy mayor, Sònia Egea, highlighted the program's importance for improving seniors' quality of life. "'Camí de Salut' is consolidating itself as a highly valued community and participatory project in the city," stated Egea, emphasizing the combination of physical activity, promotion of healthy habits, and community engagement. She added that the involvement of entities like the Emotional Well-being Table, the Guttmann Foundation, and the association ÀSIA enriches each edition.
The five cycles will be held in different locations: the Arnús Cycle at the Centre Municipal Espais, the Boada Cycle at the Casal de Gent Gran Antònia Boada, the La Salut Cycle at the Centre Cívic La Salut, the Llefià Cycle at the Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera, and the Pomar Cycle at the Centre Cívic i Comunitari de Pomar. Sessions will run between October and November.
