The man who attacked a McDonald's restaurant with an axe at the Màgic de Badalona shopping center in March 2024 pleaded guilty and accepted a ten-year expulsion from Spain.

The judicial agreement, reached on December 17, 2025, between the defense, the prosecution, and the private accusation, replaces the initial sentence of three years and eight months in prison and a fine of 3,600 euros. This resolution, set by the Spanish National Court (Audiencia Nacional), commutes the prison term for deportation.
In addition to the expulsion, the accused must compensate the company owning the shopping center with 7,602.74 euros for material damages and potential losses caused by the temporary closure of the establishment. The agreement also removes the disqualification from working in the educational field and the five-year supervised release period.
The events occurred when the man, who was in an irregular situation, entered the center armed with a large axe. Before the attack, he put a Palestinian scarf around his neck, which the prosecution interpreted as a “prior liturgy,” and struck displays and mirror walls in the restaurant area.
The man was restrained by a citizen and an off-duty police officer (Mosso d'Esquadra). While in custody, he admitted the attack was retaliation after viewing images of deceased Palestinian children. The case was taken over by the Spanish National Court the following April, due to the potential for terrorist motivation.
