This decision ensures that the most frequently used transport tickets, such as the T-Usual and the T-Jove, will maintain a 50% reduction on their original price. The agreement, finalized in late December, aims to promote the use of collective transport and alleviate economic pressure on citizens.
The financing of this measure maintains the usual scheme: 30% of the discount is provided by the State Government, while the remaining 20% is assumed by the Catalan administrations, including the Generalitat and local entities such as the Metropolitan Transport Authority (ATM) of Barcelona.
This means that users in Zone 1 of the ATM will continue to pay subsidized prices. For instance, the T-Usual (monthly pass) and the T-Jove (quarterly pass for under 25s) will remain at the prices established during 2025, thus avoiding a significant tariff increase starting January 1, 2026.
Authorities emphasized that the continuity of the discounts is vital to consolidate the increase in public transport demand registered since the implementation of the first post-pandemic aid measures, especially in large urban centers like Barcelona and its metropolitan area.
