The Barcelona City Council has initially approved the project to move the bike lane on Marina street from the sidewalk to the roadway, improving safety and pedestrian space.

The Governing Commission of the Barcelona City Council has given the green light to the executive project for relocating the bike lane on Marina street. This change will affect the section between Ausiàs Marc street and Diputació street, which is the only part of the Marina cycling axis still located on the sidewalk.
This move to the roadway aims to enhance cyclist safety and functionality, as well as freeing up the entire sidewalk for pedestrians. The new bike lane will be bidirectional, 460 meters long per direction, and will be segregated with separating elements between the two traffic flows.
The new roadway configuration will include a service lane, a bus lane (in some sections), the bidirectional bike lane, and traffic lanes, adapting to various intersections such as Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes and Casp.
The project also includes the installation of 16 new bicycle parking spots, complete repaving of the roadway, and updated signage and traffic lights.
The works, with an estimated investment of 893,619.46 euros, will be contracted this autumn and executed during the first half of 2027, with an estimated duration of five months.
