The Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, received the Ambassador of Palestine to Spain, Fadi Elhusseini, this morning to strengthen ties between the city and the State of Palestine and advance shared cultural initiatives.

The meeting, held today, served to consolidate bilateral relations and explore new avenues for collaboration. Collboni presented the Palestinian ambassador with the municipal projects of District 11, which are already being developed in various Palestinian cities. These projects address key areas such as urban development, public space improvement, local economic development, urban resilience, urban greening, and water resource management.
Barcelona already maintains collaboration agreements with cities such as Bethlehem, Ramallah, Nablus, and with the Palestinian Association of Local Authorities (APLA) to carry out municipal technical exchanges and implement joint initiatives.
Furthermore, the District 11 program collaborates with the United Nations in the Gaza Strip and Jordan. Specifically, with UNRWA, they focus on assisting refugees and displaced persons, children, and accessibility. With UN-Habitat, they work on urban analysis and planning in the Gaza Strip.
During the meeting, Fadi Elhusseini informed the mayor about the current situation in Palestine, particularly concerning the Israeli military offensive.
