The collection, dated between 1901 and 1914, includes notable works such as Lo noy del gos, Marcelet malalt, and Retrat de l’escultor Manel Fuxà, covering portraiture, genre painting, urban landscape, and illustration. This acquisition contributes to building a more complete and inclusive narrative of Catalan art history.
Among the acquired pieces is Lo noy del gos, awarded a second-category medal at the 5th International Art Exhibition of Barcelona in 1907, which demonstrates Vidal's mastery of drawing. Also incorporated are Mestressa de casa, Marcelet malalt, and the Retrat de l’escultor Manel Fuxà (1914), showcasing her maturity as a portraitist.
The urban dimension is reflected in Des de la meva finestra a Chaussée d’Antin, a testament to her time in Paris, and in Terrats de Barcelona. Her role as an illustrator is highlighted with works like Una vida, Natura, and Pataclé, linked to the feminist publication Feminal, and Celia and La mismísima energía, associated with La Ilustración Artística.
Lluïsa Vidal was one of the first women to pursue a professional career dedicated to painting in a context with limited access to artistic training. In 1911, she founded a drawing and painting academy for women, a pioneering initiative.
The eleven acquired works, which have received a favorable report from the Board of Qualification, Valuation, and Export of Cultural Heritage Assets of Catalonia, are part of the Department of Culture's acquisition policy to enrich the National Collection.
