The Clínic Institute of Neurosciences (ICN) aims to offer comprehensive and excellent care to individuals with neurological diseases and mental health disorders, while also driving research and innovation in this field. Dr. Eduard Vieta, formerly head of the Psychiatry and Psychology Service at Hospital Clínic Barcelona and a researcher at IDIBAPS, will lead this new phase.
Dr. Vieta, also a professor at the University of Barcelona, has focused his research on the causes, pharmacological and psychological treatment of bipolar disorder, and Precision Psychiatry. His work has contributed to identifying neurocognitive dysfunctions and demonstrating the efficacy of psychoeducation, while promoting new pharmacological treatments.
With a significant international profile, Dr. Vieta has scientifically directed the Center for Biomedical Research Network in Mental Health (CIBERSAM) and advised the European presidency on neuroscience research. His scientific output includes over 800 articles and 400 book chapters, along with numerous international scientific awards.
Dr. Vieta's appointment seeks to strengthen the ICN's position as a leading center in addressing neurological diseases and mental health disorders, fostering more personalized care based on scientific knowledge.
