The Club Esportiu Júpiter has activated high-risk match security protocols, starting this weekend, following violent incidents reported in the stands during the derby against Martinenc at the Municipal del Guinardó.
Club president, Salvador Franco, confirmed in an interview with Radio Marca that they have met with the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police) and the Catalan Football Federation to implement immediate measures, including increased security and searches for designated “sensitive matches.”
“
"I have sat down with the Mossos, the Guàrdia Urbana (Local Police), and the Federation, and we have activated high-risk match protocols until we resolve this. We will implement more security and conduct searches."
These measures follow an economic sanction received from the Federation due to incidents that took place at Guinardó, which involved verbal and physical aggression. The first match under the new protocols will be this Sunday, December 21, against Atlètic Sant Just.
“
"We are talking here about verbal and physical aggressions. Spitting is a physical aggression, but crossing a red line and wishing a Martinenc player would die seems out of place to me."
In the same interview, Franco strongly defended coach Juanjo García, despite the recent poor run of results. The president assured that he maintains full confidence in García, highlighting his track record and the promotions achieved with the club.
