For his part, Minister Óscar Puente emphasized that the company is born with the vocation to “add up” and sets “the rules of the game” with an “adequate balance.” Puente recalled that the agreement fulfills one of the pacts with ERC for the investiture and admitted that the Rodalies service must improve significantly.
The formal constitution before a notary is scheduled for this week. The board of directors will consist of four members from the Generalitat (Pere Macias, Marc Sanglas, Teresa Torres, and Òscar Playà) and four from Renfe Viajeros. The presidency falls to the head of the Territori department, Paneque.
The mixed company, owned 50.1% by Renfe and 49.9% by the Generalitat, will be responsible for operating commuter and regional services. The first challenge will be the transfer of the R1 line. The spokesperson for Junts, Salvador Vergés, was highly critical, calling the company an “absolute deception and scam.”
