Born in Capellades (Anoia) on January 6, 1916, in the midst of World War I, Escudé is currently one of the five oldest men in Spain. He vividly remembers his resource-scarce childhood and the move to Barcelona in 1927, where his life improved.
“"I can still go mushroom hunting, make my bed, and prepare my food. I try to cause the minimum possible inconvenience."
His prodigious memory allows him to recall historical episodes, such as playing football on the Gran Via when a car passed only every fifteen minutes, or the construction of the Palau Nacional de Montjuïc for the 1929 International Exposition. He also witnessed the proclamation of the Second Republic in 1931.
During the Civil War, he voluntarily enlisted in the Regiment Pirinenc of the Generalitat de Catalunya, participating in battles such as Belchite and the retreat from the Bolsa de Bielsa. After the war, he faced employment difficulties due to his Republican past.
On the eve of his birthday, Escudé shared his formula for longevity, emphasizing the importance of tranquility and awareness of one's own limits, despite the harsh experiences he lived through.
