The Zurich Barcelona Marathon has achieved a record 37,000 participants, selling out all bibs four and a half months before the event on March 14th, solidifying its position as Spain's most popular marathon and one of Europe's top four.

For the third consecutive year, the Barcelona event announces a sold out, surpassing its previous record and selling bibs earlier than in past editions. The growth has been spectacular in recent years, increasing from 20,000 participants in 2016 to 37,000 for the upcoming 48th edition.
With a course that winds through the city's iconic landmarks and includes modifications for increased speed, the Zurich Barcelona Marathon has established itself among Europe's elite popular athletics events. In Spain, it surpasses Valencia (36,000 participants), and in Europe, only London, Paris, and Berlin have higher participation numbers.
The race is becoming increasingly international, with 65% of participants from abroad (12,000), primarily from France (nearly 8,000), the United Kingdom (5,000), and Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands (around 1,000 each). In total, representation will come from 107 different countries.
Regarding demographics, male participation accounts for 74% and female participation 26%, with a steady upward trend for women. The most represented age group is 25 to 34 years old (37%), and nearly half of the registrations (47%) are from individuals under 35.
These positive figures are also reflected in the Hyundai Barcelona Half Marathon by Brooks, scheduled for February 14th, which also broke its historical record with 40,000 bibs sold out in just one week.
