The Barcelona City Council has awarded the contract for the renovation of the Felip II Market, located in the Sant Andreu district, with the aim of improving its access, interior mobility, and building transparency.

The Municipal Institute of Markets of Barcelona (IMMB) has awarded this October the contract for the drafting of projects and construction management for the improvement of the Felip II Market to the company Taller Sau SLP. The contract has been awarded for an amount exceeding 159,000 euros and includes the preliminary project, basic project, executive project, construction management, and start-up assistance.
The main objectives of the renovation are to improve access, provide greater transparency to the building through envelope remodeling, enhance the exterior space around the market, create new interior access points to improve vertical communication, and relocate common areas (offices, multipurpose rooms, services, restrooms) and the logistics zone.
This action is part of the Strategic Market Plan presented this year within the framework of Barcelona's European Capital of Commerce, and the IMMB's market renovation plan. The projection is to have the projects ready before summer 2027 and to begin construction by the end of the same year. The estimated total cost of the renovation is around 3 million euros.
