The city of Barcelona is preparing to celebrate the Festes de la Mercè 2026, scheduled from September 23rd to 27th. The City Council has outlined the accreditation procedures for media professionals wishing to cover the diverse events, many of which will be held outdoors and will not require specific accreditation for general coverage.
To access the Barcelona City Hall building for the Opening Speech (Pregó), journalists must complete an online form and receive an email confirmation. The deadline for these accreditations is Tuesday, September 22nd, at 9:00 PM.
Popular Culture events, such as the Castelleres (Human Towers) (September 24th and 27th at Plaça de Sant Jaume), the Correfoc (Fire Run) (September 26th), and the Piromusical (Fireworks and Music Show) (September 27th at Nova Icària beach), will primarily take place in open spaces. Applications to cover these events must be submitted before Tuesday, September 22nd, at 3:00 PM to [premsaicub@bcn.cat](mailto:premsaicub@bcn.cat).
For the Castelleres, accreditation is also available to access the City Hall balcony, with limited capacity, or a reserved space on the square's stage. The deadlines for applications are Wednesday, September 23rd, for the Thursday 24th event, and Saturday, September 26th, for the Sunday 27th event.
Music concerts will be held in public spaces. Media outlets interested in capturing images from the designated pit in front of the stages must apply before Tuesday, September 22nd, at 3:00 PM to [mariad@tremenda.cat](mailto:mariad@tremenda.cat) or [premsaicub@bcn.cat](mailto:premsaicub@bcn.cat).
Regarding Mercè Arts de Carrer (MAC), although the stages are outdoors, prior accreditation is recommended to facilitate filming and interviews.
