The news of their release was announced on Saturday by the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, and later confirmed by the legal team of the Global Sumud Flotilla. Both activists were deported via the Taba border crossing in Egypt.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs communicated the deportation via the social network X. Abukeshek, a Spanish national, is already flying to Spain and is expected to arrive in Barcelona, where he resides, this afternoon.
“"They will not allow any violation of the legal naval blockade on Gaza."
The activists, one Spanish and the other Brazilian, were held in a migratory detention center until their expulsion from the country was finalized. The Global Sumud Flotilla celebrated the release as a victory for popular mobilization and sustained international pressure.
This week, the former mayor of Barcelona and a city councilor from Barcelona City Council filed a complaint against the government of Israel before the Audiencia Nacional for aggressions. Both had participated in the first Flotilla that sailed from Barcelona in August 2025 and were detained by the Israeli army.
