Civil Protection recommends avoiding travel and approaching rivers, streams, or ravines between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. This warning is part of a 5 out of 6 risk level for intense rainfall, which could reach 40 mm in 30 minutes, accompanied by storms and violent weather phenomena.
As a preventive measure, the Government has decided to suspend educational activities in primary, secondary, and university centers in these areas. Non-urgent health activities and those at day centers for the elderly and people with mental disabilities are also restricted.
The Minister of the Interior, Núria Parlon, urged limiting travel and applying teleworking whenever possible, emphasizing that the rains could have a "considerable impact" beyond 5:00 PM.
Intense rainfall is mainly expected in the five mentioned regions, although precipitation is also forecast for the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees late on the day and during the early morning. Additionally, temperatures are expected to drop by 5 to 10 degrees across Catalonia, with sea swell warnings for the Empordà and the northern Cap de Creus due to tramuntana and mistral winds.
