A Turkish Airlines Airbus A321 covering the Istanbul-Barcelona route made an emergency landing at El Prat Airport on Thursday morning following a bomb alert, which was later confirmed to be false.

The aircraft, an Airbus A321 with code TK1853, landed at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport shortly before eleven in the morning on Thursday. The warning of a possible bomb threat on board was detected around 10:00 AM, when the plane, carrying 162 passengers and seven crew members, was flying over the Mediterranean.
The incident prompted the immediate activation of security protocols. The flight was escorted by two fighter jets, one Spanish and one French, until it landed in an isolated area of the airport. Once on the ground, the Guardia Civil proceeded with searches of passengers and luggage, following established procedures.

The security alert was generated by a 'suspicious connection to the aircraft's wi-fi,' which led to the mobilization of security forces and the activation of the Aerocat Plan by Civil Protection.

After nearly three hours of exhaustive checks, authorities deactivated the alert past 1:30 PM, confirming it was a false alarm. Despite the incident, which caused a delay of about 40 minutes in the scheduled landing, the airport maintained normal operations.
