The construction of the new nursery school involves a municipal investment of over 3.18 million euros (VAT included), with an estimated construction period of 12 months. This is the first public nursery school to be built in the city since 2013.
The mayor of Badalona, Xavier Garcia Albiol, highlighted that the new nursery school addresses a significant need for the city and fulfills a commitment made to residents. "It has been many years since a new nursery school was built in the city. The last one opened in 2013, during my first term as mayor, and now we are regaining momentum to respond to the needs of many families," he stated.
The building, spanning over 1,000 square meters, will be constructed with sustainability and energy efficiency criteria, using wood as the primary building material. It will feature seven classrooms and common areas, with a direct connection between indoor and outdoor spaces, and classrooms will have direct access to patios and covered areas. Materials and climate control systems are designed to minimize energy consumption and environmental impact.
Currently, Badalona has five municipal nursery schools: Pam i Pipa; Ralet-Ralet; Virolet; Uni Dori and Nero Nas. The name for the future school, Bugui Bugui, was chosen by the Children's Council of Badalona.
