The '(Re)activa el teu futur' program, promoted by Barcelona Activa, aims to help young people aged 16 to 25, particularly those who have fallen outside of educational and employment circuits, to reconnect with new opportunities. The initiative combines professional guidance, training, and corporate mentorship to enhance their employability and social and labor integration.
The Deputy Mayor for Social Rights, Economic Promotion and Employment, Raquel Gil, highlighted the importance of such programs in offering training and job opportunities, fostering social cohesion and talent in the city. The program seeks to ensure that young people can access jobs with good working conditions, viewing it as an essential investment for the future of Barcelona.
A key innovation of the program is corporate mentorship, which began last May. Over 50 professionals with experience in various sectors will accompany the young participants. These mentors will share their insights into the labor market, helping young people discover new opportunities and understand the importance of qualifications for accessing quality employment. The program also aims to boost self-confidence and consolidate professional projects.
Young participants like Rosa María Hernández and Naomi Quito positively value the opportunity to speak with experienced professionals to explore career development areas and feel less lost after basic studies. Mentors such as Nadia Vivas and Xènia Cuartielles express a desire to give back the support they received and to emotionally guide new generations.
Professional guidance serves as the central axis, with a dedicated reference counselor for each participant establishing a trusting relationship to identify needs, interests, and capabilities. Through workshops, company visits, and meetings with professionals, young people learn about different sectors and professional role models.
The program offers four training pathways in high-demand sectors: auxiliary warehouse activities, basic restaurant and bar operations, commercial assistance, and auxiliary administrative and general services. The training courses, lasting between 240 and 460 hours, are delivered at Barcelona Activa and collaborating centers, leading to a Professional Certificate.
'(Re)activa el teu futur' is part of the Youth Employment Quality Plan 2024-2030 and the Barcelona Agreement for Quality Employment 2021-2030, which aim to improve equitable access to quality employment for the city's youth.
