This pioneering initiative, contributing to the energy transition and the Climate Plan's objectives, opens a public competition procedure for the installation of shared self-consumption photovoltaic systems. The bidding rules will be publicly displayed for 20 days before the tender.
The ten selected rooftops have undergone an exhaustive technical study led by the Barcelona Energy Agency, which has validated their viability, photovoltaic potential, and technical and connection conditions. These installations will facilitate subsequent legalization by the awarded energy communities.
The municipal facilities include the Barceloneta Civic Center (Ciutat Vella), the Sant Antoni Senior Space (Eixample), the Font de la Guatlla Civic Center (Sants-Montjuïc), the Montserrat Abelló Library (Les Corts), the Sant Gervasi Social Services Center (Sarrià-Sant Gervasi), the L’Enxaneta Municipal Nursery School (Gràcia), the Casa Groga Civic Center (Horta-Guinardó), the Ateneu Popular Nou Barris (Nou Barris), the Baró de Viver Civic Center (Sant Andreu), and the Parc del Clot Senior Center (Sant Martí).
The estimated generation potential for these ten rooftops could reach 415 kWp. The tender will be structured into ten independent lots, allowing entities to apply for a maximum of three lots and win two. The concession period will be twenty years, with a possible four-year extension.
The City Council will provide technical support, manage site visits during the bidding period, and assist entities in the development, legalization, and launch of the projects. This action follows up on a previous experience of leasing a municipal rooftop to the cultural entity Rocaguinarda in July 2024.
The initiative reinforces efforts to reduce energy consumption and promote renewable energy generation, aiming for increased use of clean electricity and carbon neutrality. Recently, the City Council also launched a shared self-consumption service at the Alfons Comin and Ronda de Dalt pergolas.
