The project, which is in the public consultation phase until June 18, aims to reverse the severe state of deterioration of the property. This action is the necessary step before tendering the works that will allow the recovery of this witness to the agricultural past of La Bordeta.
The farmhouse, built in the mid-19th century, became a unique element in an area that was later industrialized with the arrival of textile factories. According to heritage experts, its history is closely linked to the construction of the Infanta canal, which transformed the old dry land into irrigated areas.
The rehabilitation works will include structural consolidation, roof waterproofing, accessibility improvements, and the installation of a new vertical core with an elevator. In addition, the construction of a metal pergola and the application of energy efficiency measures, such as the installation of photovoltaic systems and rainwater collection for community gardens, are planned.
Once the intervention is completed, the building will be used for social purposes, serving both the users of the gardens and spaces dedicated to the neighborhood's historical memory, allowing for the explanation of the transition between the agricultural past and the industrial legacy of the area.
