The Barcelona City Council launched this week a specific plan to combat noise in the El Born area, involving informers, posters, and leaflets.

The plan aims to increase control over public space activities and the impact of music venues, ensuring they comply with their licenses and monitoring music equipment noise levels. The Guàrdia Urbana (City Police) will also focus on street vending and public alcohol consumption, with potential dispersal of crowds.
The council has also taken additional steps in recent months to improve taxi stand organization and adjust waste collection services to minimize nighttime disturbances. Furthermore, nighttime activities with acoustic impact are strictly limited, and efforts have been made to regulate noise levels during daytime activities.
According to data from the 2022-2027 strategic noise map, 12.42% of the population in Ciutat Vella is exposed to noise levels above 55 dB (A), exceeding the city's average of 2.36%. Last year, the Guàrdia Urbana recorded 727 noise-related complaints in the El Born area, with 47 for direct noise pollution and 680 for other issues such as alcohol consumption or street vending.
