The latest Barcelona Barometer, conducted among 800 individuals between May 26 and June 3, 2026, indicates widespread citizen agreement with measures aimed at controlling tourism pressure and addressing the housing crisis. Specifically, 75% of respondents support revoking licenses for tourist accommodations in the city.
The survey also reveals that 76.4% of Barcelona residents approve of regulating commercial property prices, and seven out of ten citizens support limiting the opening of 24-hour supermarkets. Furthermore, 60% of respondents favor restricting the number of cruise ships docking in Barcelona.
Regarding voting intentions for the municipal elections in May 2027, the PSC leads with 13% of respondents, followed by ERC with 11.1%. Jaume Collboni is the name most citizens identify as the future mayor (11.5%), while 30.8% believe he will indeed hold the position.
The first deputy mayor, Laia Bonet, positively assessed the citizens' endorsement of municipal policies, particularly in housing and tourism, highlighting trust in the administration despite ongoing challenges.
Housing access remains the primary city problem for 31% of respondents, followed by insecurity (26.3%). The management of the Barcelona City Council receives a positive rating from 62% of citizens.
In the assessment of municipal leaders, Elisenda Alamany (ERC) scores 5.2, Jaume Collboni (PSC) 5.1, and Jordi Martí Galbis (Junts) 5. The remaining leaders, including Gerardo Pisarello (BComú), Daniel Sirera (PP), and Gonzalo de Oro-Pulido (VOX), score below five.
