The PLATER seeks to ensure a balanced distribution of new renewable installations across the territory and contribute to the energy transition objectives set by Catalonia for the 2050 horizon. It is designed to order the growth of these energies and facilitate their implementation, considering energy, territorial, and environmental criteria.
The plan also foresees setting objectives for different territorial areas, so that municipalities, counties, and vegueries contribute fairly and proportionally to the decarbonization process of the Catalan energy system. This initiative is part of Catalonia's strategy to move towards a more sustainable energy model, based on indigenous renewable sources, aiming to strengthen energy sovereignty and achieve climate neutrality in the coming decades.
