Catalonia Leads Spain's Immigrant Regularization Applications

Over 257,000 individuals have applied for extraordinary regularization in Catalonia, nearly 40% of the Spanish total.

A total of 459,054 immigrants have benefited from the extraordinary regularization process in Catalonia, the Valencian Community, and the Balearic Islands, representing almost 40% of national applications.

Catalonia leads the applications with 257,602 requests, according to data from the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migrations. Across Catalonia, 47,811 appointments were assigned to formalize these procedures.
The province of Barcelona has the highest number of applications with 192,195, followed by Tarragona (27,214), Girona (22,701), and Lleida (15,492). The ministry has not yet provided data by counties and municipalities.
In the Valencian Community, 167,286 applications have been registered, with 36,443 appointments assigned. The provinces of Valencia (74,951) and Alicante (73,245) show similar figures, while Castellón has 19,090.
The Balearic Islands have recorded 34,166 applications and 6,639 appointments. The ministry only breaks down data by provincial divisions, without specifying by island.
Nationally, 67% of applicants come from Central and South America. Colombian nationality is the most regularized (26%), followed by Moroccan (13.4%), Venezuelan (11.7%), and Peruvian (8.8%).
