Closed trail in Montserrat due to risk of rockfalls.

The paths of les Feixades and Santa Cova in Montserrat, closed since May 13th by the Generalitat and the Collbató Town Hall, are experiencing ground instability and landslide risks.

Recent rains and earth movements have caused ground inconsistency in the natural park, posing a danger of falling rocks. This decision was made following a recent hiker rescue in the area.
Signage placed by the Montserrat Mountain Board and the Collbató Town Hall informs of the temporary closure of the les Feixades and Santa Cova paths, recommending the use of the les Bateries path as a safe alternative.
The closure coincides with the judicial debate surrounding the circumstances of the fatal fall of Mango founder Isak Andic in December 2024. His son, Jonathan Andic, is under investigation for alleged homicide.
Jonathan Andic's defense team has filed an appeal against the order for his provisional imprisonment under a one-million-euro bail, arguing that the judicial resolution relies on "{\rtf1ansideff0{\fonttbl{\f0 Arial;}}{colortbl;\red0green0\blue0;}pardsa200sl276slmult1\f0\fs24\bcf1 weak evidence}" and "{\rtf1ansideff0{\fonttbl{\f0 Arial;}}{colortbl;\red0green0\blue0;}pardsa200sl276slmult1\f0\fs24\bcf1 subjective}" interpretations.
The responsible bodies state that the closure is solely for preventive safety reasons for users of the natural space, although experts consider that the physical conditions of the terrain are relevant for analyzing accidents in mountain environments.
