The district of Ciutat Vella is launching an expansion of its educational leisure program for teenagers this summer, which for the first time will extend into August and include the neighborhoods of the Gothic and Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i La Ribera.

This initiative, offered by the Pla de Barris (Neighborhood Plan), provides free workshops and outings designed for young people aged 12 to 16. The program, running until August 21, complements the Raval Educatiu (Educational Raval) project, which already offers over 80 free summer activities for children and teenagers.
The activities aim to promote youth participation, environmental discovery, and connection with the cultural, sports, and community resources of the neighborhoods. Sessions take place three days a week, combining workshops in disciplines such as performing arts, dance, visual arts, music, and circus, with outings to explore the local area, including visits to the beach, the swimming pool, and various cultural facilities.
According to the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for the Ciutat Vella District, Albert Batlle, initiatives like these are crucial for offering teenagers in the district free and accessible educational leisure options. Meanwhile, the commissioner of the Pacte per Ciutat Vella (Pact for Ciutat Vella), Ivan Pera, emphasized the importance of engaging young people in building community life within their immediate surroundings.
This new offering, designed in collaboration with professional teams working directly with teenagers in the Casc Antic (Old Town) and Barri Gòtic neighborhoods, aims to create safe and attractive spaces, encourage youth participation in activity design, highlight local resources, foster group cohesion and emotional well-being, and promote continued youth engagement beyond the summer period. The program is part of an educational leisure project scheduled for the 2027 and 2028 academic years.
