The alert was received after 3:30 AM. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and activated a plan to evacuate residents from building number 75-103. Although no structural damage was detected, residents were temporarily rehoused. ADIF reported that vibrations were felt in three blocks and, to ensure safety, work in the area was immediately halted, and a technical inspection of the affected properties was carried out.
Deputy Mayor Jordi Valls clarified that the vibrations originated from a compactor used in surface works for a provisional railway diversion, not from underground construction. Valls, who visited the residents and is in direct communication with Mayor Jaume Collboni, emphasized that the works were unrelated to subterranean construction.
ADIF confirmed that residents were able to return to their homes early in the morning, following technical checks by the Firefighters. The company specified that the works causing the vibrations, which began this week, are taking place within the railway tunnel of the Nus de la Trinitat and are part of the Vallbona variant project.
The company is analyzing the situation to safely resume work and minimize disturbances to residents, in collaboration with the Firefighters. Other works on the Vallbona variant are proceeding normally, and ADIF noted that the incident was confined to a very specific point of the operation.
Valls urged ADIF to carry out the work properly and reconsider the use of the compactor, minimizing its impact. He acknowledged that residents experienced a scare and had to leave their homes, reiterating the need for the works to be conducted with the least possible inconvenience.
