Among the seized weapons is a war-grade firearm, along with 38 semi-automatic handguns, two revolvers, four shotguns, and a thousand rounds of ammunition. A hand grenade, bulletproof vests, a ballistic shield, and 12,000 euros in cash were also recovered. One of the weapon caches was located in Barcelona.
The alleged leader of the group, who was incarcerated, coordinated operations and issued orders to his family members. According to the Mossos, he had full communication capabilities with the outside. The organization was involved in buying, storing, and selling weapons to third parties, using secret channels to advertise them and send images to potential clients.
One of the leader's daughters was responsible for 'marketing' and recording videos of the weapons. Transactions were negotiated by the father from prison, while his partner transported the weapons to agreed meeting points by car, often in broad daylight and discreetly.
The investigation began in January following information obtained during another operation targeting a violent youth gang in L'Hospitalet. After six months, it culminated in the arrest of nine individuals (five men and four women, aged between 20 and 48) and ten searches in various locations, including L'Hospitalet, Barcelona, Montcada i Reixac, Canovelles, Badia del Vallès, Piera, Reus, and El Pla del Penedès. One search was conducted in the prison.
The operation involved 130 police officers. The investigation remains open, and further arrests are not ruled out.
