The police operation has resulted in the arrest of six individuals, two of whom are from the province of Barcelona, implicated in a scheme to offer aesthetic treatments illegally. Raids were conducted simultaneously in various cities across Spain, including Biscay, Las Palmas, and Asturias, where numerous health products were seized.
The criminal network operated by offering treatments with prohibited substances in unauthorized locations such as hair salons or private residences. During the searches, authorities confiscated approximately 10,000 doses of botulinum toxin (botox) and over 200 vials of hyaluronic acid. Furthermore, funds amounting to 115,000 euros, presumed to be from this illicit business, were detected.
The investigation, which lasted over a year, began in mid-2025 at an airport in the Basque Country. There, the Civil Guard discovered illegal health products originating from South Korea and Vietnam. This discovery allowed officers to uncover an entry route for substances like botox, hyaluronic acid, and diabetes medications – some improperly used for weight loss – without the necessary health authorization.
As highlighted by the Civil Guard, the seized products did not adhere to the cold chain, posing a "significant risk" to the health of patients receiving treatments at these clandestine clinics. Police have located alleged members of the ring in Cornellà de Llobregat and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, in addition to the four arrests made in Biscay.
