Barcelona's Guàrdia Urbana has arrested an individual for alleged involvement in 18 container fires in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district, occurring between May and August 2026.

An individual has been apprehended by the Investigation Unit of Barcelona's Guàrdia Urbana, allegedly linked to a series of container fires that took place in the Sant Gervasi and Pedralbes neighborhoods. The incidents under investigation occurred between May 6th and August 5th of this year.
The detained individual is attributed with responsibility for 18 fires that resulted in the burning of 127 containers. The investigation, which involved collaboration from the district's neighborhood police, has successfully identified and located the alleged perpetrator.
In addition to damage to street furniture, the fires affected 11 vehicles, the cobblestone pavement of Plaça del Monestir, which is a protected heritage site, and a wall at the Sant Marc School. In one incident, the fire also impacted a gas pipe at the Abat Oliba Loreto School, leading to a two-day interruption of the gas supply to the center.
The Barcelona City Council has estimated the material damages caused by these acts to be approximately 115,000 euros.
