Agents of the Police of the Generalitat arrested on May 29th in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat a 22-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of several violent robberies and assaults, using an electric scooter.

The investigation began following an increase in violent robberies in the Santa Eulalia neighborhood, committed with electric scooters. The characteristics of the incidents and the description of the alleged perpetrator matched, allowing investigators to establish a pattern of behavior.
After identifying the suspect following one of the robberies, officers began efforts to locate him. During the nine days after his identification, sufficient evidence was gathered to attribute to him four violent robberies (two completed and two attempted) and three minor assault offenses against the victims.
The modus operandi involved riding on the sidewalk with an electric scooter, identifying a potential victim, quickly approaching from behind, and snatching necklaces from their necks with a strong tug, then fleeing on the same vehicle. Three victims suffered minor injuries, and investigators noted that the perpetrator often targeted elderly women, some with physical limitations.
The arrested individual was considered an active offender and a priority target due to his high level of criminal activity. His arrest led to a significant decrease in violent robberies with this method in the neighborhood. The detainee was handed over to the on-duty investigating court of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
