Specifically, Vall d'Hebron University Hospital ranked 27th globally, making it the first in Spain and fifth in Europe. Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, meanwhile, secured the 43rd position, improving nine places from the previous year and ranking as the second-best center in Spain and 15th in Europe.
Vall d'Hebron, with over 100 years of history, was highlighted for its work in robotics and telemedicine, crucial areas for rapid diagnostics and precise treatments. The publication particularly commends its specialties in medical oncology (28th globally, 1st in Spain) and endocrinology (33rd globally, 2nd in Spain).
Hospital Clínic de Barcelona was also recognized for eleven specialties. Its obstetrics and gynecology department ranks 10th worldwide, first in Spain, and third in Europe. Other services such as cardiology (51st globally) and neurology (44th globally) also improved their international standing.
In addition to these two centers, other Catalan hospitals such as Sant Joan de Déu (294th) and the private Clínica Sagrada Família (222nd) also appear on the list. These 'smart' hospitals integrate advanced technology to optimize treatments, management, and disease prevention, underscoring the importance of accessible and high-quality public healthcare.
