Mobilizations by the education sector will continue this week in Catalonia, called by unions such as CGT and Intersindical, despite the decision by USTEC-STEs and Secondary Teachers to temporarily suspend territorial strikes.

Although the main unions have decided to temporarily suspend territorial strikes to allow for a vote on the preliminary agreement reached with the Department of Education, other unions such as CGT, Intersindical, COS, and various educational assemblies are maintaining their planned calls. These protest actions will take place between Monday and Tuesday to demand labor and educational improvements, and to express their disagreement with the preliminary agreement.
The first day of mobilizations will take place tomorrow, June 1st, coinciding with the strike called in the counties of Girona and Catalunya Central. In Montserrat, participants are summoned at nine in the morning at the parking lot of the Cremallera rack railway in Monistrol to begin a hike up to the monastery. Once there, at twelve noon, an educational assembly will be held. In Girona, activities will begin at the same time in front of the Territorial Services of Education, in Plaça Pompeu Fabra, followed by an open assembly at noon. In the afternoon, the mobilization will move to Manresa, with a demonstration at six in front of the Territorial Services of Education, located on the road to Vic.
The following day, Tuesday, June 2nd, protests will concentrate in Barcelonès and within the scope of the Consorci d’Educació de Barcelona. The main action will be a protest bike ride starting at 7:45 AM from various points in the city. In parallel, there will be a gathering at the same time in Plaça Urquinaona for those who prefer to participate on foot. The bike ride route will pass through Passeig de Gràcia and end at Plaça de Catalunya, where the discontent of a part of the teaching staff regarding the negotiations with the Department is intended to be made visible.
These mobilizations are occurring at a key moment, with teachers being consulted on the preliminary agreement with Education. While USTEC and Secondary Teachers have opted for the temporary suspension of territorial strikes, the rest of the unions insist on maintaining pressure in the streets and educational centers. The general strike called for Friday, June 5th, remains in effect for now.
