Despite its prime location in the Pedralbes neighborhood, the property, with its distinctive ship-like design, is failing to attract potential buyers. Luxury real estate sources indicate that the price, considered "totally disproportionate" and "excessive," along with a design described by some experts as "very ugly" and "tacky," are the main obstacles to the sale.
The mansion, spanning 2,394 square meters of land and 1,413 square meters of built area, includes amenities such as a paddle tennis court and a football pitch. Initially listed for around seven million euros, the former player attempted to sell it for 25 million, making it one of the most expensive properties in the city. A year later, the price has been reduced to 20 million euros, but it is still considered high compared to other properties in the same area.
Jordi Alba's father, Miguel Alba, is managing the sale and showing the property to interested parties. Described as a "very stubborn" and "headstrong" seller, he appears unwilling to lower the price further, complicating the transaction. The real estate agency Carolina Martí is handling the management but has declined to comment on the price or sale conditions.
The property is situated in an exclusive area of Barcelona, home to other prominent figures such as Sol Daurella, president of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, and former footballers like Marc-André Ter Stegen and Pep Guardiola. While the neighborhood is known for its tranquility, security, and views, the unique design of the 'ship-house' seems to be the primary deterrent for high-net-worth buyers.
