Club Natació Sant Andreu has been eliminated from the water polo Champions League after losing to Ferencváros in the semi-finals. The Barcelona team drew 11-11 in regulation time and lost 15-14 in the penalty shootout in a closely contested match. This defeat comes just a week after they also lost the league final to Mataró.
During the first half, the team coached by Javi Aznar displayed a solid defence and benefited from strong performances by goalkeeper Martina Terré. Gisel·la Farré and Elena Ruiz were key scorers for Sant Andreu, who led 3-6 at halftime. Despite Ferencváros's comeback, the Barcelona side maintained control thanks to goals from Queralt Anton and Robin Jutte.
In the second half, Ferencváros raised their game and managed to level the score. Elena Ruiz continued to be decisive for Sant Andreu with five goals, but the Hungarian team, with goals from Dorottya Szilagyi and Eleftheria Plevritou, forced penalties. A goal from Noa de Vries with less than a minute remaining made it 11-11, sending the semi-final to a penalty shootout where the Hungarian side emerged victorious.
