The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday morning on Barcelona's Balmes street, where a man lost his life and the perpetrator fled.

The incident took place shortly before ten in the morning in a busy area of the city. Upon arrival, police patrols and emergency teams found the victim on the ground with gunshot wounds. The Medical Emergency System (SEM) confirmed the death at the scene.
According to police sources, surveillance cameras captured the assailant, a man carrying a bicycle helmet, wearing shorts and a t-shirt. The Mossos have launched a search operation to locate him. The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) is leading the investigation to determine the suspect's identity and the motive for the crime.
A key lead is the murder weapon, which the suspect allegedly abandoned after fleeing. The pistol was found in Gal·la Placídia square, a short distance from the murder scene, after a woman discovered it and alerted the police.
The murder occurred in front of a National Police station, generating significant attention in the area. Judicial officials carried out the body removal while investigators review footage and gather evidence. This is the second fatal shooting in Barcelona in four days.
