Several neighborhood associations in Barceloneta and Poblenou have demanded urgent action this Thursday to curb the tourist saturation that they claim is collapsing mobility and coexistence in the neighborhoods.

The signatory entities, including the Federació d’Associacions Veïnals de Barcelona (Favb) and the neighborhood associations of Barceloneta and Poblenou, have issued a statement warning that the current tourism management model has become unsustainable for residents.
According to the text, access to the beaches is under constant pressure. Public transport, especially buses and the metro, is overwhelmed by demand that exceeds current capacity, hindering residents' daily commutes.

The group also points to irregular vehicle traffic as an aggravating factor. Taxis, VTCs, and bicycles hinder the passage of urban buses, causing delays and reducing service reliability. Furthermore, they denounce that public space suffers from extreme overcrowding, which generates coexistence conflicts.
Faced with this scenario, the coastal neighborhoods are demanding stricter enforcement of traffic regulations from the authorities and improvements in public transport frequencies. They also call for policies that prioritize the daily lives of Barcelona residents over the volume of visitors.
