The artistic project, part of the 'Art i Ciutat' program and the Primer de Maig Integral Plan, was driven by the school with the aim of linking education, collective memory, and public space transformation. The work is by the renowned muralist Roc Blackblock, known for his work in recovering historical memory and workers' struggles.
To design the mural, students from Escola Ferrer i Guàrdia researched the neighborhood's history through documents, old photographs, and interviews with residents. Their conclusions and most impactful ideas were later presented to the artist and the Community Action team.
Based on this research, Roc Blackblock created an artistic proposal that includes historical images from the Municipal Archive. The mural highlights the presence of children, the role of women in caregiving tasks, and the neighborhood's working-class and activist character, symbolized by a banner.
